Thinning hair a really distressing condition for over 52 million men and women in North America. There have been so many developments in the scientific community but unfortunately the commercial remedies offered give only temporary results and are riddled with side effects.
As such scientists are looking towards plants and natural remedies to help grow hair and they have found hundreds of herbs that show amazing hair growth potential. After countless hundreds of hours of research on herbs that can grow hair, I came across a study on the plant Asia sari radix published in the Journal of Dermatological Sciences in 2005. In this study researchers wanted to compare the effects of 45 plant extracts known to affect hair growth.
The Study.
So the study was performed to evaluate the hair growth-stimulating and promoting effects of 45 plant extracts. A 1% solution of extracts was applied onto the subjects daily for 30 days and 45 days, respectively.
Hair growth was measured by protein synthesis which was measured by a process called ”Cysteine uptake assay” using cultured hair follicles. The study showed that of all the herbs tested Asia sari radix was the most effective in promoting hair growth at the cellular level.
What Makes Asia Sari Radix So Effective At Growing Hair?
First it is important to know that a 1% solution of Asia sari radix was applied to the subjects, and according to the study the Asia sari radix induced earlier telogen to anagen conversion. As you may know hair grows in three stages –the anagen (hair growth phase), the Telogen (resting phase-where hair sleeps) and the catagen (the hair loss phase).
This Asia sari radix extract quickened the hair growth cycle from the telogen (hair resting phase) to the anagen (hair growth phase), which means hair was able to grow for a much longer period of time. Also the resting phase got shorter. Understand this; the longer the hair growth phase-the better chance hair can grow. However Asia sari radix went a step further because it also increased the depth and size of the hair follicle. (It made the hair follicle denser and thicker) Researchers examined this phenomenon closer to see how Asia sari radix worked.
They observed the effects of the extract on hair follicles in the cell (in vitro) and it was found that the Asia sari radix caused an increase of an amino acid called cysteine (Which is a protein structure that makes hair). An increase of cysteine intake is a sign of protein synthesis, a process needed to create hair shafts. (New hair growth)
Eclipta Alba – the king of hair
Again hair follicles take in amino acids (protein building blocks) from the blood stream in order to produce hair. Therefore, the greater the amino acid (protein) uptake implies that the follicles are undergoing new processes to build new hair shafts.
The researchers also discovered that the cells used to make hair actually multiplied. (This part is exciting) Remember when it comes to slow hair growth, thinning hair and hair loss there are several causes and therefore several pathways that cause it and therefore a remedy like Asia sari radix that solves hair loss through a variety of pathways or mechanisms would be better than using just one pathway(which most hair loss remedies use).
That is why scientist are pleasantly surprised about Asia sari radix. It has three possible ways of growing hair as discussed not just one.
Henna
Henna (scientific name Lawsonia inermis) is truly a wonder herb for hair. It has been used for thousands of years in Asia to grow beautiful hair.
Here is what it does: It makes hair shinier and stronger. It also makes hair less prone to breakage and splitting. It improves the quality and health of hair as well. Henna can return hair to a healthy and youthful shine and glow[4]
(1) Cellular multiplication of keratin (which is what hair is made off) –this simply means more hair cell development.
(2) Upregulated gene expression- this simply means the mechanisms that is used to increase the production of hair cell protein. Increases the development of new hair protein
(3) It hastened the transition from the telogen phase (resting phase) follicles to their anagen (hair growth) phase.
This means hair could grow for a longer period of time-more growth Remember the study discussed was done in the lab where high concentration of plant extract was applied (1%) directly to the cells. To use it topically one would need a higher concentration of Asia sari radix plant extract as it is not being applied at the cellular level. You should know that traditional cultures in India and Asia use hair oils with Asia sari radix for extended periods of times to grow hair.
The best way to make use of Asia sari radix is to use the treatment 2-3 times a week over a period of months to get benefits.
Why Aradix
Asia sari radix is truly an amazing plant – the results above were spectacular to say the least – what we use it for is for general hair health. At this point you might be excited about Asia sari radix, if you are; you are in luck, because we have 2% concentration of Asia sari radix in Aradix.
The concentration is a high concentration than the one mentioned in the study above (2% versus the 1%). We recommend that you use Asia sari radix for at least 4-8 months- like everything in life a consistent and correct use, tend to generate the best possible results.
